Ministry of Social development and Family implements "Make Your Cup" workshop for productive entrepreneurs

The Ministry of Social Development and Family, represented by the Department of Family Empowerment, organized a workshop entitled "Make Your Cup", which was held at the Social Development Centre of the Quartier Pearl Channel, as part of its activities and programs aimed at caring for productive entrepreneurs and developing their products and projects through their participation in training workshops.

The goal of this workshop is to provide support to the category of productive entrepreneurs. As a part of the Department's interest in handicrafts, namely, hand-made pottery and ceramics, Participants will be able to learn how to use the electric wheel in addition to refining the surfaces of the pieces of art they formed with their hands, then polishing them, decorating them with gold and painting them In the end. It will be an integral and distinctive piece of art from their production that will inspire a sense of achievement and pride.

The workshop was presented by Ms. Halima Khamis Al-Shamaly. Approximately 15 national productive entrepreneurs participated in the workshop, learning about one of the handicrafts, ceramic cups, and the process and stages of making them.

During the workshop, participants were taught the basic techniques of the ceramics industry. Ms. Halima said that this workshop is a unique creative experience aimed at enabling participants to make pottery cups using the manual method of pottery making. The event is focused on providing participants with an opportunity to acquire pottery skills and create an interactive learning experience.

The workshop also offers participants the chance to witness the entire process of making a cup, from selecting the clay to its formation and heating, where high-quality clay, wooden materials, and water are utilized to form the cups.

Porcelain parts are manufactured during several stages of mud formation and then placed on the rotating wheel, leaving them to dry, then inserted into the oven, then taken out to choose the right color, reheated in the oven again and ready for use.

In the workshop, participants are encouraged to interact and exchange ideas in a social environment, which motivates them to add personal touches to their designs, making the cups unique and self-expressive. The workshop also contributes to the promotion of arts and crafts in the local community and stimulates the love of learning, as well as these professions contribute to the preservation of handicrafts.

Ms. Fatima Al-Nuaimi, Director of the Department of Family Empowerment, said that in the light of the Ministry's desire to support national productive entrepreneurs, as part of the work to achieve the Ministry's vision of guiding the efforts of women's and family institutions economically and encouraging them to become self-reliant, productive entrepreneurs are constantly trained through training workshops. The Ministry collaborates with relevant authorities of the State to organize exhibitions and events to showcase and sell their products through training, auxiliary services, and marketing outlets to promote their products and empower them.
