Creating a database for the elderly and people with disabilities

The Ministry of Social Development and Family proposes and implements national strategies, plans, and policies related to family care and raises community awareness of the importance of family protection and family cohesion. It also prepares and implements related programs and services for all categories of beneficiaries of social security services and provides social security services to beneficiaries. Data and statistics related to the family are collected and analyzed to make use of them in related programs in coordination with the relevant governmental and private agencies, as well as proposing and implementing policies related to housing and following up on their implementation. Not only that but also it supervises the organization of the charitable sector and registers and notifies private associations and institutions and monitors them.

Among the future projects that the Ministry targets within its plans, according to what was stated in the State’s Internal Achievements Guide issued by the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, is the rehabilitation of working-age social security beneficiaries for the labor market, providing suitable job opportunities for them. The strategic project is community markets and the Family Empowerment Fund through the Productive Families Financing Project. It builds a database for productive families and creates a database for the elderly and the disabled based on terms of reference. Developing a law on the rights of the elderly and studying challenges and strategies for transitioning from school to work (people with disabilities) are also done under the project. This project is to enhance and develop social development centers.

While introducing the organization of family counseling centers, a containment project, it issued a guide for associations with financial and administrative procedures. Issuing rules, instructions, and accounting forms. This is seen as a line for family complaints, and a guidance and counseling service.

The Ministry also aims, within its projects, to invest in relations and cooperation with the offices of international organizations residing in Qatar in building the capacities of the Ministry's employees. Closer relations and cooperation with Jordan, Germany, Norway, Australia, and Singapore are about the fields of transferring expertise for social protection programs. The transfer of experiences with UNICEF, the United Nations Development Program, the International Disability Alliance, and the regional and international promotion of the unified Arab classification of people with disabilities, a new visual identity for home projects.
